Pastor Paul

Paul C. Monson was born June 1, 1964, in Pontiac Michigan to the Rev. and Mrs. John R. Monson.  He grew up in Troy, Michigan and received his elementary through high school education in that city.

In 1988, he received his B.A. in religious studies from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  On June 2, 1991, he married Joan McMicking at Faith Lutheran Church in Troy.

Paul began studies at Concordia Seminary,
St. Louis in the fall of 1993.  Epiphany Lutheran Church in Detroit served as his vicarage congregation during the 1995 thorough 1996 school year, under the guidance of the Reverend Richard P. Hillenbrand.  It was while on vicarage that Joan gave birth to their first child, Joshua, in September.

Paul graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1997 and served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Warren, Michigan from 1997-2005. While serving as Pastor at Trinity the Lord blessed Joan and Paul with three more children—James, Naomi and Isaac.

Having sensed God’s leading, in November of 2005 he accepted his second call to
St. Augustine Lutheran Church where his father served as pastor for over forty years.
